This event is free and open to all Queen’s, RMC and other pertinent units: students (undergraduate, graduate, and medical), staff, and faculty are all welcome. No prior knowledge of health economics or economic evaluations required.

How do we know if a program, policy, or technology is actually worth the investment? Join us for a hybrid seminar on Economic Evaluation—a vital tool used across healthcare, engineering, public policy, and business to make data-driven decisions.

Attend in person to network with colleagues, or join us online from anywhere. Whether you are managing a department budget, designing a public health intervention, or writing a research grant, would like to learn about the area, this seminar will equip you with the foundational concepts to measure cost versus impact. No prior background in economics is required!

What you will learn:

  • Core Frameworks: The differences between cost-minimization, cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, cost-utility, and budget impact analyses.

  • Real-World Example of an Economic Evaluation Plan: How diverse fields use these methods to influence policy and secure funding.

  • Practical Skills: How to formulate and integrate economic evaluations into your own work.
