PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER MINDFULNESS PROJECT

Personal Support Workers experience high levels of stress, emotional fatigue, and workplace pressures, yet they often have limited access to structured mental-health supports. Our project explores whether a brief, workplace-integrated mindfulness program can enhance wellbeing and reduce stress symptoms among Personal Support Workers employed in long-term care. This mixed-methods pilot study will examine the implementation of a four week mindfulness program delivered during work hours, assessing how Personal Support Workers experience the program, how well it fits within routine care practices, and whether it contributes to improved resilience and emotional regulation. Findings from this project will inform the development of a scalable intervention designed to support the mental health and sustainability of the long term care workforce.
